Professional Psychiatric Assessments Tailored to Your Needs
At Meta Psychiatry, we provide detailed psychiatric assessments to help individuals gain clarity, understanding and support around their mental health concerns. Whether you are seeking a new diagnosis, exploring treatment options or need a professional opinion for legal or employment purposes, our experienced psychiatrists are here to assist.
Understanding the Importance of Psychiatric Assessment
A psychiatric assessment is often the first step toward improved mental health. It allows us to explore your personal history, current symptoms, emotional wellbeing, and functional challenges in a structured, clinical environment.
Our assessments are conducted with the utmost professionalism and sensitivity and aim to build a complete picture of your mental health to inform an accurate diagnosis and individualised treatment plan. We work with adults, adolescents and children, and welcome referrals from GPs, psychologists, case managers and other health professionals.
Assessments can be used to help identify conditions such as:
• Depression and mood disorders
• Generalised anxiety and panic disorders
• Bipolar disorder
• ADHD and neurodevelopmental conditions
• PTSD and trauma-related symptoms
• Psychotic illnesses and schizophrenia
• Personality disorders

What to Expect from Your Assessment
During your appointment, one of our psychiatrists will conduct a thorough clinical interview. They may ask questions about your mental health history, current concerns, lifestyle, family background, and any treatments you’ve tried previously. Standardised tools or rating scales may also be used to assist in evaluation.
Our approach is collaborative, meaning we take the time to listen and understand your experience before making any clinical conclusions. Depending on your needs, we may also request input from other professionals in your care team or suggest additional assessments such as cognitive testing or blood work to rule out physical health contributors.
Following the assessment, your psychiatrist will provide feedback, offer a diagnosis where appropriate, and recommend a treatment plan which may include therapy, medication, or referral for further support. A written report can be provided on request or shared with your referring doctor with your consent.

Innovative Treatments: Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS)
Meta Psychiatry is proud to offer Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) as part of our treatment options. rTMS is a non-invasive procedure that uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain, offering relief for individuals experiencing major depressive disorders. This therapy is particularly beneficial for patients who have not responded to traditional treatments.
Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) is an effective treatment for major depressive disorders. It involves the focal application of a localised, pulsed magnetic field to the brain inducing small electrical currents which stimulate nerve cells.
